The spirit of the Jezebel spirit can be so cunning to perceive but you can even see it manifesting in the church.
1. It feeds false prophets and kills true prophets.
Elijah was fed by a raven while 850 false prophets of Baal and of the groves were fed at the royal table (1 Kings 17:6, 18:19). Have you ever seen how some pastors who stand by the genuine principles of the Word yet suffer all their lives. They preach the Word faithfully, visit the sick, attend every occasion, bury the dead yet they cannot afford a decent grocery. Their congregants say that this is good because it will keep them humble. The same congregants rush to give phones, cars, houses to some fly-by-night preachers who come to town, lure them, abuse them and leave them with emotional and spiritual wounds to be healed by their “poor pastor.” Some even have physical wounds after being sexually molested. Beware of people in church who speak against buying groceries for your local pastor.
I once had a person, in our church, who campaigned against buying their pastor groceries because she wanted to prove her influence. I knew all of a sudden, this woman is in the Bible. She is Jezebel.
2. It threatens the real servants of God and attacks their confidence.
As someone was leaving our, then, small church, he wrote a letter and explained how vision-less we were. He said that, he knew clearly that the church would not survive. Elijah was constantly threatened by Jezebel that he was so distraught and even desired death. “But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.” (1 Kings 19:4)

This world is not an innocent world. When we started the church I was not married. One lady from church visited a witchdoctor to get juju to turn me to her love. Thank God the doctor told her that, they could not succeed against me because of God’s protection. She wanted to win me spiritually! Jezebel called for a fast to destroy Nabboth: “And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people” (1 Kings 21:9). Witchdoctors fast and pray that servants of God will die. When the church speaks against a servant of God they are operating under the spirit of Jezebel. The church should know that by virtue of the anointing on those who are in Christ your words against a servant of God are anointed and are tearing a servant of God. You are “an anointed witch!” It will need the anointing and Angel of God to rise and fight against you (Daniel 12:1). Death and life are in the power of your tongue (Proverbs 18:21), use them to give life not death, to your servant of God.
4. It is controlling and manipulative.
The Jezebel spirit desires to manipulate the headship of the church to get what it desires even when it involves breaking protocols: “And Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and withal how he had slain all the prophets with the sword. Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time”(1 Kings 19:1-2). Have you ever had someone in Church who stands up, publicly, to you in a meeting and “democratically” represents the flock that they cannot continue with the funds you are asking for? And the rest also start complaining after them? It is a controlling and manipulative Jezebel spirit!
5. It is a spirit of divination calling itself prophetic.
The Jezebel spirit is very cunning. It is a false spirit and seems to be in support of the pastor but is just a divining spirit calling itself a prophetic spirit: “Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols” (Revelation 2:20). It is so spiritual that like many other satanic agents it encourages spiritual disciplines like fasting, though from a wrong spirit: “And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people” (1 Kings 21:9). Infact, many people that are deceived by this spirit always “hear God” and have prophetic words above that of the one the pastor declared in church. “ Lord deliver your servants from these Jezebels!”
6. It is an anti-submissive spirit.
Why would a woman agree to have a husband in a man she cannot submit to? Why should you join a church then refuse to submit to the leaders and vision? It can only be work of a Jezebel spirit.
After Jezebel’s husband had given up on Naboths vineyard, it was sealed because the highest rank in both the family and nation, the father and king, had decided. However a Jezebel spirit breaks spiritual ranks and protocol, and goes ahead of the head: “And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth” (1 Kings 21:7-8).
The Obadiah Ministry
I want to thank God that every time the Jezebel spirit is fighting the servants of God, He would have already raised an Obadiah ministry. Obadiah rose against Jezebel for the sole reason that he feared God greatly. This ministry matches ranks and dislodges the Jezebel mandate by protecting and feeding the anointed and the anointing: “And Ahab called Obadiah, which was the governor of his house. Now Obadiah feared the Lord greatly. For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water” (1 Kings 18: 3-4)
Who are you in the church? The Jezebel or the Obadiah? God is calling you to be an Obadiah now! May this spirit of Jezebel be destroyed from your spiritual Israel, the Church. I pray that God may raise you as an Obadiah who feeds God’s servants even in times of opposition and famine.
Pray
I call on the church never to underestimate the power of fasting and prayer for the servants of God. Prayer moves the spiritual realm which in turn brings results in the physical: “And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand. And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake” (Revelation 8:3-5). As we begin praying, bind the spirit of Jezebel and release the Obadiah ministry in your life and ministry. Pray, pray, pray until something happens (P.U.S.H).
