#Tiyambuke2019: Bishop Amon Madawo for Tiyambuke 2019

Chitungwiza – Tracing the history of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) in Zimbabwe is incomplete without mentioning Bishop Amon Madawo.

History records say that AFM commenced in 1915 in Gwanda, when Zacharias Manamela is reported to have moved from South Africa, aiming to set up a church in Zimbabwe.

It was only in 1918 when the church was now being recognised and it officially bought a farm in Kadoma under the leadership of Luttig. The church then began to expand resulting in the massive and impressive acceptance of the denomination countrywide.

As of writing, the AFM is a leading Pentecostal denomination in Zimbabwe, with a following exceeding 2 million across the nation, with assemblies nationwide.

Since 2011, Bishop Madawo had led the arm of AFM in Chitungwiza East Province.

The current president, who succeeded former leader Aspher Madziyire, took over church leadership during a turbulent phase.

The church has annual pilgrimages that they attend. Each year, every department holds its annual conference and there is the general conference which is traditionally held in August at the Rufaro Conference Centre in Chatsworth in Masvingo.

In the city, he has become a leading Kingdom voice, across the Christian denomination. But in bid to bring closure, he engaged the church to quell the impasse.
“It is a very difficult time for the church and we have engaged our former presidents and other leaders to come and meditate so that we can unite again as a church.

“Yes, we might win legal challenges, but what is important is winning back the love and unite as a church. I have engaged AFM International so that they can facilitate dialogue,” he mentioned to a local publication.

The AFM has its own theological schools, the Living Waters Theological Seminary in Tynwald offering diverse theology training. Notable past students include Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa.

The servant of God will be a guest at the annual Tiyambuke conference hosted by Glory Ministries, with the theme: Give me this mountain.
